Egypt Tours - Egypt Nile Tours

Holiday in luxury as you float through Egypt on our Egypt tours. Cruising tours of Egypt allow you to see the most important sites by day and return to your five star accommodation at night. The most famous of Egypt's tourist sites are concentrated on the shores of the Nile but separated by vast distances. Sample the delights of Aga Khan's Botanical gardens and see the Obelisk's of Queen Hapshetsut without having to repack your bag on a cruising tour of Egypt.

The Pyramid of Khufu, at Giza, is the last of the seven ancient wonders of the world. It is the oldest and largest of the pyramids on the Giza Plateau and for sheer breathtaking magnitude even Cairo, Egypt's capital and Africa's most cosmopolitan city, struggles to compete.

The Necropolis dominates the desert and as most people come to Egypt to see The Pyramids no tour is complete without at least one day spent at Giza. Although millions of tourists visit Giza each year it's very hard not to feel alone as you stare into the sky peering at the peaks of these ancient behemoths.

Although not as large as The Pyramids, the Great Sphinx is Egypt's, and the world's, oldest monumental sculpture. Set to face the rising sun the Sphinx looms over a solar temple, and like Abu Simbel hundreds of kilometres to the south (also accessible on your tour) the position of the sun in the sky is used to reflect the power of the Pharaohs. Sunset and sunrise are particularly dramatic over the Sphinx.

Thebes (near modern day Luxor) was one of the most important cities in ancient Egypt. Tours through the Karnak Temple complex are only a short horse drawn calèche ride away from the mooring. The importance of Thebes is such that we have a slightly extended stay so that you have enough time to visit the Valley of Kings on the westerly bank of the Nile. The Valley of Kings is possibly the second most famous of Egypt's tourist locations, housing as it does the Tomb of Tutankhamun.

Not as renowned as some of Egypt's tourist attractions the Temple of Horus at Edfu is the second largest temple in Egypt and the best preserved. The preservation is partly due to the temple's relative youth, dedicated to Ptolemy XII in 57 BCE the temple is over one and a half thousand years younger than the Great Pyramid, and partly due to having been totally immersed in sand for a substantial part of its lifetime in Egypt. Tours are available through the temple at night.

Extend your tour of Egypt with a stay at one of our luxury resorts in Cairo, Luxor or Egypt's premiere water sports resort, Hurghada. Stay in Luxor and experience a week touring ancient Thebes, sailing on the Nile in a felucca, marvelling at the Sound and Light show in the Karnak Temple or sipping a cocktail by the pool and enjoying the blessings of Ra, Sun God of ancient Egypt.

Tours through the spectacularly preserved Valley of Artificers (popularly know as the Valley of Queens) alone are worth staying in Luxor for. Due to a lower volume of tourists passing through than the Valley of Kings, the Valley of Artificers' stone work has maintained more of its crispness; you could be forgiven for forgetting it was carved thousands of years ago.

The five star InterContinental Pyramids Park Hotel in Cairo has rooms with spectacular views of the Great Pyramid itself, is within walking distance of the Giza Plateau and is only a short taxi journey away from bustling Cairo town centre, where you can enjoy a tour of the proudest city in Egypt including the Khan-el-Khalili the most famous souk (market) in Cairo.

The Khan is a chaotic jumble of shining brass, vibrant pottery, Nigerian tourmaline, Egyptian emeralds, cloth and cotton. When you walk through the covered walkway you can’t help but be immersed in a different world as the smells of spices and musk take you away from a simple tour of Egypt and into the pumping heart of Egypt herself.

However you spend your time, trailing your toes in the ancient water of the Nile, or scuba diving to explore the coral of the Red Sea, you’ll never forget your Egypt tour.
